About Middletown
On Raritan Bay, Middletown is the largest township in the Northern Monmouth area. A Colonial atmosphere prevails along some of the city's residential streets, where ancient shade trees tower over large old houses. Some 17th-century structures remain, including Marlpit Hall, a 1756 Dutch Colonial house that contains furnishings from the mid-18th century. The house at 137 Kings Hwy. is open May through September; phone (732) 462-1466.
