About Flemington
Already a prosperous distribution point for the region's agricultural products, Flemington became widely known in the early 20th century for the manufacture of pottery and cut glass. A different kind of notoriety came to town in 1935 when the much-publicized Lindbergh kidnapping trial was held in the county courthouse.
Steam and vintage diesel locomotives provide the power for 11-mile round trips aboard the Black River & Western Railroad. Weekend and holiday trips depart from the Flemington Station, 12 Stangle Rd. off SR 12W, and travel to the Ringoes Station on CR 579. For information and reservations phone (908) 782-6622.
Shopping
Liberty Village, on SR 12 west of Flemington Circle, features specialty shops and outlet stores housed in Colonial-style buildings on the site of an old railroad turntable.
